FEATURED OTL Sesquicentenary Commemoration This is an official commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Overland Telegraph Line by NT Heritage at the ‘joining pole’ where the north and south wires were joined to link Port Darwin and Adelaide by telegraph on 22 August 1872. The presentation and entertainment will begin at 10 AM on Monday 22 August 2022 at the Sir Charles Todd memorial on the Stuart Highway. This will be followed by a walk or transport to the joining pole, 1.7 km west, for a re-enactment and telling of the story of the ceremonial joining 150 years ago at 12:10 PM.
