Mr Allan McGill AM, Chairperson of the Northern Territory Heritage Council, is pleased to invite you to
commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Overland Telegraph Line: the day that Australia
became ‘wired to the world’.
A commemorative event will be held from 10:30am – 1:30pm on Monday 22 August 2022 at the Sir Charles
Todd Memorial rest stop, Stuart Highway (approximately 27km south of Dunmarra).
Following a formal ceremony at the rest stop, you will then have the opportunity to walk the 1.7km route to the
Frew Ponds Historical Reserve, to view the exact point where the line was joined 150 years ago.
Please register belowYou will then be provided with further information prior to the event. It would be greatly
appreciated if you could submit your RSVP by 1 August 2022.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Heritage Branch on (08) 8999 5039.
